A new application season has started. The University of Mpumalanga has officially opened online applications for the 2027 academic year from 1 June 2026.
If studying at the University of Mpumalanga is part of your plan for 2027, now is the right time to submit your application. The university opened its online application system on 1 June 2026 for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Applying early can help you avoid last minute problems and give you enough time to upload all required documents.
Students applying for undergraduate programmes and Advanced Diplomas must submit their applications before 30 November 2026. Those applying for Honours, Postgraduate Diplomas, Master's, and Doctoral programmes have until 30 January 2027 to apply. It is important to check the correct closing date for your qualification before starting.
Before beginning the application process, prepare electronic copies of your documents. These include a certified copy of your ID, your National Senior Certificate or Senior Certificate, and any other supporting documents required for your chosen programme. The university accepts files in PDF, DOC, DOCX, TIFF, PNG, JPG, and JPEG formats.
Applicants are also required to pay a non refundable application fee. South African applicants pay R200, SADC applicants pay R400, and international applicants outside the SADC region pay R550. When making payment, use your ID number or student number as the payment reference.
The online application process is straightforward. Applicants first complete their biographical information and create a five digit PIN. After receiving a student number, they can access the application portal, accept the POPI Act requirements, and continue with the application process.
The system will ask applicants to provide personal details, contact information, addresses, school subjects, previous studies, and disability information where applicable. All supporting documents must be uploaded before selecting academic programmes. The University of Mpumalanga allows applicants to choose up to two programme options.
Students who need accommodation can also apply for residence through the same portal. Once all sections have been completed, the application progress should show 100 percent. This confirms that the application has been successfully submitted for consideration.
